Standard Bank named African Bank of the Year 2021

Standard Bank Group - which is present in 38 countries, including 18 African countries - was recently nominated as the African Bank of the Year, in a ceremony that took place in the online format of the annual African Banker Awards, organized by African Banker Magazine.

In a statement sent to VerAngola, Standard Bank states that this event aimed to "recognize the role that the Standard Bank Group has played in the real economy, strongly affected by the impact of covid-19, as well as in the actions that contributed to the training and empowerment of women on the continent".

Standard Bank Angola considers that this "distinction recognizes the success of the bank?s strategy based on service quality, digitalization and social commitment". Quoted in the note, the institution stressed "that the award is a recognition of the work of Standard Bank professionals, who at all times of the pandemic provided a quality service to companies and people".

In the statement, the bank also emphasizes that "is focused on supporting the economic growth of the countries where it operates" and that, for this, it will continue to work to achieve these goals and "provide all customers with the best banking service available.

"The African Banker Awards are designed to recognize the reforms, rapid modernization, consolidation, integration and expansion of Africa's banking and financial system. The award winners are selected by an independent jury of bankers, financiers and business leaders," the note adds.
