Portuguese consulate in Luanda resumed issuing visas and documentation

The Portuguese Consulate in Luanda resumed this Tuesday, in a limited way, the scheduling of some acts, including the issue of citizen cards, passports, birth and marriage records, and applications for nationality, also processing various categories of visas.

According to information posted on the Consulate's website, interested parties may request an appointment through the Portuguese Communities Portal - Online Scheduling of Consular Acts.

The processing of some types of national / long-stay visas has also been resumed since last week, with the issuance of Schengen visas suspended until 1 July, with the exceptions provided for in Order 5612-A / 2020 of the Ministry of Administration Domestic Portugal (countries associated with the Schengen Area - Liechtenstein, Norway, Iceland and Switzerland; Portuguese speaking countries, but in Brazil only flights from and to São Paulo and to and from Rio de Janeiro; United Kingdom, United States of America, Venezuela, Canada and South Africa).

Temporary stay and residence visas for the purposes of study, family reunification, temporary stay for research activities and residence visas for teaching or highly qualified activity, temporary stay visas relating to the temporary transfer of workers and residence visas can be requested for independent activity or 'startup' visa.

Visas for medical treatment may also be requested for urgent and urgent medical acts, and visas for accompanying family members subject to medical treatment if it is indispensable (minors or invalids).

The Lusa agency questioned the Ministry of Foreign Affairs about how many visas have been applied for since last week, and for what purposes, but it has not answered these questions.

The consulate added that "it has adequate equipment to comply with the recommended sanitary rules" and states that users should wear a face mask.
