President congratulates Mozambique on 45 years of independence

The President of the Republic, João Lourenço, congratulated Mozambique on the 45th anniversary of independence, expressing wishes that peace, stability and development can be achieved through "a broad understanding between all Mozambican forces".

"On this date of special relevance, I want to highlight the victories achieved by Mozambique in the political, economic, social and security fields, and express my desire that the great aspirations of the Mozambican people for progress, peace, stability, development and to well-being, materialize on the basis of a broad understanding among all Mozambican living forces ", said João Lourenço in a message sent to his Mozambican counterpart, Filipe Nyusi.

The head of state also expressed his desire to "continue to work" with the President of the Republic of Mozambique "in the continuous deepening of the historical ties of friendship and cooperation that exist between the two peoples and countries".

With ceremonies in at least all the provincial capitals of the country, this Thursday celebrated 45 years since the proclamation of independence in 1975 by then President Samora Machel, after a liberation struggle against the Portuguese colonial regime, which began in 1964.

The celebrations of the 45th anniversary of independence were subordinated to the motto: "United, we build Mozambique for Peace and Development" and the Mozambican head of state conducted the central ceremonies at Praça dos Heróis Moçambique, in Maputo.
