In a communiqué sent to VerAngola, the Economic Bank explains that "due to the limitations imposed by the coronavirus pandemic and the temporary closure of René Tavares' exhibition" they decided, together with This is Not a White Cube, to make the works available online.

The exhibition consists of 40 works produced by René Tavares between 2012 and 2020 "and presents, through two distinct nuclei, a significant variety of means ranging from painting to drawing, photography to installation".

The works are separated by series, the note adds, noting that "the themes of migration and heritage that have been, over the years, a consistent engine of innovation and creativity in artistic production" by René Tavares are explored.

For those interested, the "Migrations and Things, Remnants of a Single History" can be consulted through the Banco Económico website or social networks.

René Tavares was born in São Tomé and Príncipe. He graduated from the School of Fine Arts in Dakar, Senegal, and in 2011 obtained a Master's degree in Art and Heritage Sciences from the Faculty of Fine Arts, University of Lisbon.

Currently, the artist works and lives between São Tomé and Lisbon.
