According to a statement from CIPRA, to which VerAngola had access, João Lourenço, "in decrees that he signed and had published", proceeded to dismiss João Manuel Bartolomeu da Cunha from the position of Secretary of State for Agriculture and Livestock, as well as dismissed André de Jesus Moda from the position of Secretary of State for Forests and Ivan Magalhães do Prado from the position of Secretary of State for Industry.
In other diplomas, the head of State appointed Castro Paulino Camarada to the position of Secretary of State for Agriculture and Livestock, João Manuel Bartolomeu da Cunha to the role of Secretary of State for Forests, as well as Carlos Manuel de Carvalho Rodrigues to occupy the position of Secretary of State for Industry, says CIPRA.
Furthermore, on Monday, the President of the Republic sent a message of "regret and solidarity" to the Brazilian president, Lula da Silva, following the floods in Brazil.
"We have followed with concern and regret the difficult situation caused by the floods that occurred in the south of your country and which resulted in serious and extensive human and material consequences", states the message.
In the letter, João Lourenço also expressed solidarity and condolences.
"I express to you, at this time when you are facing this tragedy of worrying proportions, the solidarity of the Angolan people and Government, who join together and share the pain of the brotherly Brazilian people. To the families bereaved as a result of this natural catastrophe, we address our deepest heartfelt condolences", he said.
The storms have lasted fifteen days and in southern Brazil the death toll has reached 148, with at least 127 people missing. There are 2.1 million people affected in 447 of the 497 municipalities in Rio Grande do Sul, almost 81 thousand people in shelters and half a million homeless.
