In a statement, dst indicates that the award will be presented at the headquarters of this business group, in Braga.

Published in 2021, the poetry book "Diário do Medo" unanimously won over the jury, who recognized it as "a refined creative process, in which it is evident how reality can function as a material for literary creation, respecting aesthetic values, technical and ethical".

"In addition, the work denotes profound life experience, uses the right word/metaphor and the rhythm appropriate to the content of each poem with rigor and simplicity and has a comprehensive view of the self and one's circumstances, with critical attention to contemporary phenomena", he added, in a statement.

The jury for this fifth edition was made up of writers and journalists José Mena Abrantes (president), Amélia Dalomba and David Capelenguela, general secretary of the Union of Angolan Writers, who analyzed, chose and substantiated the award-winning work, based on three assumptions: "assuming that every artistic creation is based on a fundamental aesthetic, technical and ethical tripod; recognizing as valid and current the statement by the German poet R.M. Rilke that verses are not just feelings and memories, but above all experiences of life" and also agree with the Mozambican writer Mia Couto that "the poet does not like words, he writes to get rid of them. Words make the poet small and without invention".

The jury's decision was announced on November 6 last year.

The dstangola/Camões Literature Prize distinguishes books published in poetry and prose by authors born in Angola. As stated in its objectives, it aims to become a reference by distinguishing the "most prestigious" Angolan works and authors.

According to the president of dstgroup, José Teixeira, this is "the only private Portuguese company to promote a literary prize in Angola".

The award was established within the scope of a protocol signed in 2019 with the Camões Institute.

The protocol included the creation of the dstangola reading room, at the Portuguese Cultural Center in Luanda, which received, from dstgroup, thousands of books, worth more than 12,500 euros, plus a reinforcement of 6000 euros in each of the subsequent three years.

In previous editions, writers Zetho Cunha Gonçalves, in 2019, Pepetela, in 2020, Benjamim M'Bakassy, in 2021, and Boaventura Cardoso, in 2022, were awarded.
