The National Petroleum, Gas and Biofuels Agency (ANPG) and its Namibian counterpart, the Directorate of Petroleum Affairs, recently signed a memorandum of understanding aimed at promoting bilateral collaboration in the oil and gas sector between the institutions.

"The National Agency for Petroleum, Gas and Biofuels (ANPG) recently (26/04) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with its counterpart in the Republic of Namibia, Directorate of Petroleum Affairs (DPA in English, Directorum of Petroleum Affairs), during the international conference called NIEC (Namibia International Energy Conference) held in Windhoek, under the motto 'Shaping the future of energy for value creation'", reads a press release from the ANPG, which the VerAngola had access.

According to the note, the memorandum between the national concessionaire and its counterpart in Namibia "has the objective of promoting bilateral cooperation in the oil and gas sector between institutions, based on mutual benefits between the two countries, strengthening and intensifying cooperation in the oil and gas industry".

On the occasion, the chairman of the Board of Directors (PCA) of the ANPG indicated that they will "train the Namibians so that they can assume the responsibility of producing in Namibia", explaining that the training will not be in a "cabinet, but in a task force".

"We are going to train the Namibians so that they can assume the responsibility of producing in Namibia. The training will not be in a cabinet, but in a task force because we have accumulated experience with different operators and we want to make use of this aspect to help in the training of the Namibians. It is known that the national workforce in Angola is 80 percent and it is our expectation that Namibia will reach this level gradually", said the official, quoted in the statement.

The ANPG also mentions that after the signature of the memorandum, the elaboration, approval and execution of the Action Plan is foreseen.

"This agreement is the result of the MoU signed between the Ministry of Natural Resources, Oil and Gas of Angola and the Ministry of Energy and Mines of the Republic of Namibia, on November 29 last year, during the Angola Oil and Gas Conference", reads in the note, which adds that the national delegation, led by the PCA of the ANPG, "was made up of the executive director, Belarmino Chitangueleca, the director of negotiations, Alcides Andrade, the coordinator of the biofuel nucleus, Vita Mateso, exploration specialists and negotiation, Adriano Sebastião and Hermenegildo Buila, respectively, as well as technicians from different areas related to the concessionaire".
