Government and international oil companies initialed several multimillion contracts in the last 12 months

In recent months, the country has seen several highly lucrative service contracts signed. In compliance with an agenda that aims to accelerate the exploration and production of hydrocarbons, onshore and offshore, international oil companies and the Government signed, in the last 12 months, several multimillion contracts.

:

"With an ambitious national oil company, Sonangol, and a strong list of regional and international oil companies active in the country, several multi-million dollar contracts have been signed in the last 12 months with service companies involved in drilling, logistical support, construction services, maintenance and completion of wells", says a statement sent to VerAngola.

Thus, at stake are five contracts, which were signed with the companies Azule Energy, Saipem, Sonadrill and TechnipFMC.

The most 'valuable' contract is the one signed with Azule Energy, valued at 7.8 billion dollars.

According to the statement, the contract was signed in February this year. "In February 2023, Azule Energy, the largest independent oil and gas producer in Angola, signed contracts worth 7.8 billion dollars with service companies that will be important in the Integrated Development Project of Centro Oeste Agogo - one of the biggest "upstream" projects in the country", reads the note.

Thus, adds the note, the contracts were awarded to Yinson (an energy technology and infrastructure company), to provide the FPSO unit, field operation and maintenance services; to Baker Hughes (oil services company) for supplying the subsea production system and after-sales services, as well as to Aker Solutions (engineering company) which will be responsible for supplying the umbilical system.

"In addition to these, contracts were also awarded to the engineering, procurement and construction company, Saipem, which will supply the rigid flowlines, transport and installation of subsea structures; to the engineering company, Subsea 7, which will be in charge of transporting and installation of risers (oil and gas risers), flow lines and subsea structures; and to the engineering and technology company, TechnipFMC, which will also supply risers and flow lines", the statement also says.

With the company Saipem, the contract had a value of 900 million dollars. According to the statement, the Novo Consórcio de Gás de Angola (comprising Azule Energy, Sonangol, Chevron and TotalEnergies) awarded the said company (an Italian multinational oil services company) three engineering, acquisition and construction contracts "with the aim of developing of the Quiluma and Maboqueiro fields, located in the Lower Congo Basin, off Angola".

"This is an onshore and two offshore contracts, signed in August 2022, valued at 900 million dollars, and which cover all engineering, acquisition and construction work, including connection and assistance in all types of charges. for the proper functioning of the Quiluma platform", reads the note.

Sonadrill benefited from two lucrative contracts, the first worth 327 million dollars and the other valued at 161 million dollars.

The 327 million dollars contract was signed in November last year and concerns the operation of the Libongos drillship in the country. "Sonadrill – a consortium in which Sonangol and the global drilling solutions company based in Bermuda, Seadrill – closed in November 2022 an extension contract, worth 327 million dollars, for the operation of the Libongos drillship in Angola. This platform will be used to drill 12 wells upon payment of a daily fee of 402,500 dollars, over a period of 25 months", states the statement.

The second contract was signed in April last year. "Sonadrill also agreed to an extension of the operating contract for its West Gemini vessel – an ultra-deep water vessel that explores the coast of Angola – worth 161 million dollars. With this contract, signed in April 2022, which is valid for 18 months and which had not yet been publicly announced, the West Gemini drillship, from Sonadrill, will drill ten additional wells, with options for drilling another eight wells", reads the note.

Finally, a contract worth 250 million dollars was signed with TechnipFMC with TotalEnergies.

"In addition to the Azule Energy contract, TechnipFMC also secured a 250 million dollars contract with TotalEnergies, for engineering services, acquisition and supply of flowlines and connectors in the Girassol Life Extension project, located in Block 17. The installation of flexible tubes should extend the useful life of the Girassol field, bypassing the rigid and outdated tube bundles that began to be used even before the beginning of production in the field, which took place in 2021", adds the note.

According to the statement, with activities in this branch growing, new contracts are expected to appear. "With the activities of Angola's energy sector in full growth, the emergence of a set of new high-value service contracts is expected, as well as the extension of several that already exist and are being implemented".
