INCM/Angola Literary Prize created to encourage literary creation in the country

Imprensa Nacional - Casa da Moeda created the INCM/Angola Literary Prize, which will select unpublished works, in Portuguese, in the field of literary prose, produced by Angolan citizens or residing in Angola for five or more years.

According to a note from the INCM, the purpose of this award is to encourage Angolan literary creation.

In addition to the publication of the work by the National Press, the winning author will receive a pecuniary prize of 5000 euros.

For this first edition of the INCM/Angola Literary Prize, the jury is composed of the Angolan writers Aníbal João Ribeiro Simões (president) and Ondjaki and the Portuguese Jorge Reis-Sá.

The works must be presented by the 30th of June and the results will be known at the end of next October.

The prize will be promoted and publicized in Angola by the Embassy of Portugal and Camões - Institute for Cooperation and Language.
