Carrinho and Gemcorp present proposals to buy BPI's stake in Banco de Fomento Angola

Carrinho and Gemcorp are interested in BPI's stake in Banco de Fomento Angola (BFA). In this sense, the Angolan group and the British fund manager proceeded to present proposals to buy BPI's 48.1 percent stake in BFA.

According to Jornal de Negócios, the two companies have already entered a second stage of negotiations, whose final offers will have to be advanced in July, the month in which the winner will be elected.

With regard to the sale, BPI intends to sell the stake for at least 411 million euros, advances the same newspaper.

To carry out the operation, advances Negócios, BPI entrusted Exotix, which concerns a financial boutique specializing in merger and acquisition operations on the African continent.

It should be recalled that, since 2017, this is the third time that the bank owned by the Spanish group CaixaBank has tried to sell its position in BFA, due to pressure from the European Central Bank, which does not grant bank equivalence to Angola.
