With this reinforcement, weekly flights to Lisbon will increase from seven to 14, while those to Johannesburg will rise from three to seven.

António Mutondo, TAAG's sales and distribution director, told Angop that the resumption of the Porto route brings news, as this will no longer be a direct flight.

"We will resume the connection with Porto from the 27th of June, with a connection to Madrid. It is no longer a direct flight and becomes Luanda / Madrid / Porto / Luanda", he said.

Speaking to Angop, he referred that this measure is part of the operational strategy of the trade balance recovery programme.

Clarifying that in 2019 the company operated with its entire fleet, the official indicated that until the first three months of this year the company started to operate with only 80 percent of the fleet. However, with the reopening and design of new connections, it is expected that by the second half of 2022 the company will resume operating its fleet in full.

António Mutondo also underlined that the company is growing: "we can say that the company is growing in sales volume, approaching the figures for 2019 and, in the context of aviation, the years 2020 cannot be compared and 2021".
