Netherlands with eyes set on 'made in Benguela' fruit

The Netherlands has in its sights the 'made in Benguela' fruit. According to the country's ambassador to Angola, Tsjeard Hoekstra, Dutch businessmen will, in the near future, travel to that province to analyze its agricultural potential, with a focus on the production of tropical fruits.

Speaking on the sidelines of a visit to the Port of Lobito - which aimed to analyze the benefits of collaboration in the field of transport - the ambassador indicated that the Port of Rotterdam is the main entry point for various goods on the European continent.

For that reason, he considered that there was a good opportunity for collaboration between the two countries, namely with regard to the transport of tropical fruits to Europe, writes Angop.

"The Netherlands is an agricultural power, ranking second in the world, behind the United States of America. We are ready to share our knowledge with Angola in the agriculture, logistics, port works and distribution sectors", he said, quoted by Angop.

He also highlighted the benefits of the Lobito Corridor. The official, quoted by Angop, considered that "the business can take steps forward", since via the Benguela Railway, the goods can reach the Port of Lobito, being later exported to the European continent, with destination to Rotterdam.
