"More than 17 million dollars made available to transform Luau into a strategic point of trade in Southern Africa", reads a note from the Provincial Government of Moxico.
Of these 17 million, nine million dollars will be used in the construction and purchase of equipment for the ore terminal. Five million dollars will already be invested in the construction and purchase of equipment for controlled temperature cargo and about three million will be allocated to the fuel terminal.
The platform will comprise warehouses for goods, container parks and fuel and mineral terminals, "where more than one million tonnes of goods will be traded per year", the note said.
The undertaking, according to the statement, will open doors to "great opportunities for the development of the region and the country, constituting a point of interconnection with international markets, enhanced by the rail and road connection with the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) and the Zambia".
The Secretary of State for Land Transport, Jorge Bengue, and the provincial governor of Moxico, Gonçalves Muamdumba, were present at the launch of the tender for the design, construction, operation and commercial management of the Luau Logistics Platform.
On the occasion, Gonçalves Muamdumba, considered that "when operating, the logistics platform will be able to add value to the much desired and challenging commitment to diversify the economy".
The act also revealed the period for submitting applications, which will run until the 9th of June.
