The opening of an embassy of Senegal, in Luanda, is part of the new dynamics of cooperation between both countries, after the opening of an embassy of Angola in Dakar, the Senegalese capital.

"And because your Excellency wanted and did, and to give the same encouragement to our relations between Angola and Senegal, I decided to open an embassy of Senegal in Luanda so that the bilateral relationship we want is closely monitored by our two embassies", said this Wednesday Macky Sall, in Luanda.

"We have a common commitment, increasingly narrowing our bilateral relations, taking into account some matters that we have to deal with at the level of our ministers, I think that our efforts must be very much based on economic and commercial matters", he stressed.

Macky Sall was speaking at the presidential palace in Cidade Alta, in Luanda, as part of his first day of a 72-hour state visit to Angola.

The Senegalese statesman expressed himself "happy and honored" for this being the first visit of a Senegalese head of state to Angola: "We feel as if it were at our home and I thank you for the fraternal welcome given to the our compatriots who live here in Angola".

Agreements in the fields of justice, trade and industry, science, oil and gas and investment promotion and protection were signed this Wednesday between both delegations.

Macky Sall praised the cooperation agreements signed and stressed that his country "is particularly interested in Angola's experience in the extractive industry and the exploitation of hydrocarbons".

"And I am also thinking about the possibility of collaboration in the field of health, the Pasteur Institute in Dakar, known for its studies on vaccines against yellow fever, will also start producing vaccines against covid-19 before the end of the year", stressed.

For the President of Senegal, cooperation with Angola could also be expanded in the sector of public works, higher education, research and professional training and culture "and, above all, in the judiciary domain where negotiations are ongoing".

"With this dynamic, we agreed to hold the first mixed bilateral session for the next year, focusing on some key areas given the concern we have in finding results", he defended.

Macky Sall visited, in the morning, the António Agostinho Neto Memorial, where he paid tribute to the first Angolan President.
