The country has 107 patients abroad benefiting from the medical board, of which 77 in Portugal and 30 in South Africa, according to the Minister of Health, Sílvia Lutucuta, said this Monday.

According to the information provided by the minister, the 77 patients in Portuguese land have 30 companions, while the 30 patients in South Africa have seven companions.

In 2017, Angola had more than 500 patients in these countries, said the health minister, who explained that this scenario is being resolved with the restructuring of the Health Board and investments in the sector, thus allowing diseases that affected the most patients traveling abroad can be treated in the country.

Cited by Angop, Sílvia Lutucuta highlighted the Hospital Complex for Cardio-Pulmonary Diseases Cardeal Dom Alexandre do Nascimento and Hospital Américo Boavida, which perform cardio-pulmonary and hip and knee surgeries, respectively.

Thus, he added that all the new "structures that are being born have a new purpose, that of improving differentiated assistance in the country, combined with the training of staff in order to provide a service in order to look more at the object of universal access to health service for all".

João Pascoal, president of the Health Board, revealed that they analyze about 50 to 60 patients per week and that per month they register 15 cases of people seeking a resolution to the obstacle of assisted reproduction.

Cited by Angop, João Pascoal added that in the future it will be possible to respond to the problems of some citizens, taking into account the approval of laws on assisted reproduction and transplantation as well as the investments that have been made in the sector.

It should be noted that last year, the executive interrupted the medical boards in Portugal and South Africa, as a result of investments made in infrastructure and specialized medical services in the country.

The information was provided within the scope of the 1st Conference on Health Boards in Angola, which is taking place this Monday, with the motto "For Fair and Humane Assistance to Users, Let's Promote Opportunity and Dignity for All".
