Covid-19: mask in open places is no longer mandatory

The Government decreed the end of the mandatory use of mask in open spaces, as of this Monday, the date of entry into force of a new decree with measures to prevent and combat covid-19.

:

The measure is included in the set of new rules for the administrative management of the pandemic situation, after the end of the calamity situation announced by the Minister of State and head of the Security House of the President of the Republic, Francisco Furtado.

The new decree establishes that all entities, private and public, have a general duty to protect public health, and must enforce biosecurity rules, maintaining the mandatory use of a mask in public places, as well as in closed places of public access, however, it is no longer needed in open spaces.

Vaccinations are recommended for all citizens, from the age of 12, and the presentation of the certificate is mandatory to access various places, for all citizens over 18 years old, and can be replaced by a test carried out up to 48 hours before.

As for the health control of borders, entry into the national territory continues to be dependent on carrying out a pre-boarding test for the detection of the SARS-CoV-2 virus, with a negative result, within 72 hours prior to the trip, with passengers also subject to carrying out a post-landing test (antigen).

Passengers in transit in the national territory are, as of this Monday, exempted from carrying out these tests, and the presentation of the RT-PCR test is mandatory, in cases where the country of destination, transit or the airline requires it.

The situation of public calamity, in force in the country since 25 May 2020, is now replaced by the state of administrative surveillance, according to the new decree that came into force at 00:00 on 16 May.
