João Lourenço approved a contract worth 1 billion to electrify 60 communes

The President approved a contract worth 1000 million euros for the public works of the engineering, supply, construction, test of hybrid photovoltaic generation systems and expansion of the electricity grid to 60 communes.

The draft contract approved by João Lourenço for this engineering project and the expansion of the electricity network with new distribution networks comprises a total of 60 communes in the provinces of Malanje, Bié, Moxico, Lunda Norte and Lunda Sul.

João Lourenço, in presidential order No. 100/22 of 28 April, to which Lusa had access, also authorizes the expense and formalizes the opening of the simplified contracting procedure based on material criteria for the aforementioned contract.

The measure, which is part of the Electricity Sector Development Program, aims "to reduce poverty by increasing basic social services, including access to electricity".
The President delegates powers to the Minister of Energy and Water, with the power to sub-delegate, to enter into and sign the above contract with the consortium formed by the companies MCA Deutschland GMBH and M. Couto Alves – Vias, S.A.

The Ministry of Finance is authorized to register the project for the electrification of the provinces of Malanje, Bié, Moxico, Lunda Norte and Lunda Sul, through hybrid photovoltaic generation systems in the Public Investment Program (PIP) 2022.

João Lourenço also approved, in another order, the conclusion of a financing agreement between the Republic of Angola, represented by the Ministry of Finance, and the English Financial Institution Standard Chartered Bank in the amount of 48.9 million euros, covered by the Credit Agency to the French Expansion "BPI France", for the materialization of the construction and equipping of the General Hospital of Catumbela, province of Benguela.

For the construction and equipping of the Hospital Geral do Dundo, province of Lunda Norte, the Angolan President also approved the financing agreement between Angola and the English Financial Institution Standard Chartered Bank in the amount of 48.9 million euros with coverage by BPI France .
