Angolan ambassadors highlight the importance of the ZEE in attracting investment to the country

A group of Angolan ambassadors visited the Luanda-Bengo Special Economic Zone (ZEE) this Wednesday to get in touch with the available business opportunities and thus attract investment from the countries where they are carrying out a diplomatic mission.

According to a statement from the ZEE, to which VerAngola had access, as part of the visit – promoted by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MIREX) in conjunction with the Private Investment and Export Promotion Agency (AIPEX) –, the ambassadors were satisfied for the advances noted in the performance of the ZEE.

Cited in the note, Geraldo Nunda, Angola's ambassador to the United Kingdom and Northern Ireland, considered the visit "very important".

"It is a very important visit. I would like to thank the opportunity that Mirex and the ZEE provide us to get in touch with the actions that have been implemented in the industrial and agricultural spheres. We believe that the first steps are taken here to become a country each industrialized. We were drawn to the ongoing local production, namely raffia bags, hospital products, dairy products and others", he said.

The diplomat also admitted that "economic diplomacy is an aspect of foreign relations to bring investments to the country".

Eduardo Octávio, Ambassador of Angola to Rwanda, stressed the importance of the visit and thanked MIREX, AIPEX and ZEE "for providing the ambassadors with this opportunity to visit this special economic zone where important factories are being set up that will contribute to the diversification of our economy".

"The most important thing is to promote economic diplomacy to attract investment and also promote exports," he added.

According to the note, the ambassadors were received at the Investor Support Center (GAI) by members of the ZEE Board of Directors, where they attended a presentation on the ZEE and its growth since 2018 at the level of "production units and creation of new jobs for the youth, as a result of the measures implemented by the current Administration".

On the occasion, the diplomats visited several industrial units in the EEZ, many of which have recently started production and offer jobs to hundreds of young people.

"These are Gulkis (dedicated to the production of dairy products), BD Solupráfia (dedicated to the production of raffia bags), Medvida (dedicated to the production of materials for hospital use), Kaheel Agriculture (dedicated to the assembly of tractors and agricultural implements), Plastcon (dedicated to the production of plastic materials and packaging) and Ecoindustry (dedicated to the production of cement-glue and mortars)", reveals the note.
