Isabel dos Santos refused to be interrogated in the Netherlands, says Pitta Grós

Isabel dos Santos recently refused to be interrogated by the Netherlands, as part of the investigation linked to the 'Luanda Leaks' case. The revelation was made by Hélder Pitta Grós, Attorney General of the Republic (PGR).

:

Speaking to the Portuguese television channel SIC, the PGR said that the daughter of José Eduardo dos Santos "was recently" in the Netherlands and that "in the context of international legal cooperation" they asked the authorities of that country to notify and interrogate her, but then having been contacted by the authorities, the businesswoman refused to cooperate.

"Isabel dos Santos was recently in the Netherlands. As part of international legal cooperation, we asked the Dutch judicial authorities to notify and interrogate her. When contacted for this purpose, Isabel dos Santos refused to cooperate", said the prosecutor.

Regarding Isabel dos Santos' trip to the Netherlands, the PGR did not provide any clarifications. However, according to SIC, this is a country where several companies owned by Isabel dos Santos and her husband, Sindika Dokolo (died in 2020) were headquartered and where lawsuits linked to 'Luanda Leaks' are ongoing.

To the television channel, Pitta Grós also took the opportunity to mention that negotiations are not taking place with the businesswoman's defense: "There is no negotiation with her lawyers in the context of asset recovery".

The PGR also admitted the possibility of issuing an international arrest warrant.
