Higher Polytechnic Institute of Bié graduates the country's first water engineers

The Higher Polytechnic Institute of Bié (ISPB) is training the first water engineers in the country. According to Gerson António Palhares, coordinator of the institution's installation commission, a total of 48 final-year students of the water resources engineering course, the only one given in Angola, will be launched in the national market in 2022.

:

The course was implemented in 2014 and about four years ago face-to-face classes were suspended. The course is being taught remotely by professors from Argentina.

The lack of financial conditions does not allow bringing Argentine teachers to Angolan lands, and the only solution is to teach the course at a distance.

However, Gerson António Palhares, cited by Angop, revealed that there are Angolan teachers who are in Argentina receiving training. Without indicating the exact number of national teachers who are receiving training abroad, the responsible explained that this measure aims at guaranteeing the classes of the next periods.

The educational institution has already trained, since 2015, 932 students in the courses of clinical psychology, social communication, computer engineering, nursing and accounting and administration.

In the current academic year, the institute has enrolled more than 2000 students. Classes are guaranteed by 78 teachers, 35 of whom are Cuban.
