Angolan Dário Essugo is the youngest player ever to be crowned champion by Sporting

After making history in March by becoming the youngest ever player to line up for Sporting's first team, Angolan-Portuguese footballer Dario Essugo has broken a record again: the 16-year-old athlete won, this Tuesday, the title of the youngest ever player to win the Portuguese first league championship for Sporting's first team.

The feat happened this Tuesday, after Sporting beat Boavista by one ball to nil. Although there are still two games to go until the end of the Portuguese championship, this Tuesday's victory allowed the 'lions' to collect enough points to mathematically distance themselves from their opponents and thus win the title.

However, for Dario Essugo the record-breaking doesn't stop there. According to Angop, if the footballer scores a goal still this season, he may win the title of the youngest player to score for Sporting in the main division.

So far, the record belongs to Cristiano Ronaldo, who achieved this feat with 17 years and eight months.

Remember that in March, Dário Essugo's name was all over the Portuguese media after he became the youngest ever player to play for Sporting's first team. With this debut, the player managed to surpass the record of Santamaria (who made his debut at the age of 16 years, 11 months and 12 days) and Marco Caneira, whose debut was at the age of 17 years and one day.

He also managed to surpass the debuts of other players who have passed through Sporting. For example, Cristiano Ronaldo, who took the field at 17 years, six months and nine days, and Figo, who made his debut at 17 years, four months and 27 days.

Dario Essugo was born on March 14, 2005, in Benguela. With only 16 years of age, the player is already indicated as a young promise in the world of Portuguese soccer.
