The 21-year-old driver said he suffered some technical problems with his car, which caused some time losses during the race.
"Unfortunately we had many technical problems and couldn't get the results we wanted," he said, quoted by Rádio Nacional de Angola.
The Angolan said that during the first half hour of the race his teammate suffered an "incident that damaged the car a lot" and, therefore, they lost "a lot of performance" in the rest of the race, he said. "Then we had a problem with one of the tires," which resulted in a further "dynamic loss of the car," he added.
"It was not an easy race, our car was not in condition to be at the front, unfortunately, after all the problems we had," he said.
However, Rui Andrade stressed that the important thing was to have scored points in the race: "Focus on the positive, we scored points in our first race in the world".
According to Angop, Rui Andrade is the first Angolan to participate in a world championship.
In this race, the driver, who represents the G-Drive Racing team, driving an Aurus, teamed up with John Falb, an American, and John Mehri, a former Spanish Formula 1 driver.
The next race will take place in Portugal (where Rui Andrade currently lives), at Portimão Circuit, in June.
