The information about the campaign that started on May 5 and ends on July 5, with the slogan "My body is not your fantasy", was given to Lusa on Monday by the Director of Institutional Communication and Press of the provincial delegation of Luanda of the Ministry of Interior, Hermenegildo de Brito.

According to the same source, the weekly numbers draw the attention of the authorities, as mirrored last week in Luanda, with the arrest of three people aged 19, 21 and 25, accused of raping children under five years old.

The balance of last weekend's police in Luanda reports that the cases were registered in the municipalities of Cazenga, Hoji-Ya-Henda neighborhood, and Belas, in the Bita Progresso neighborhood, and the arrests occurred "after intense police intelligence work.

"The facts occurred when the offenders took advantage of the absence of the parents to consummate the illicit act," the document states.

Hermenegildo de Brito stressed that the campaign aims to awaken families, people, and the community to the existence of this evil, and that everyone should participate to significantly reduce this type of crime.

"We have, in fact, every day in Luanda a child under ten years of age sexually violated, we cannot look impassive and serene before this evil, we have to alert the communities and inform that, being a public crime, everyone can participate, denounce, to the authorities, to INAC [National Institute for Children]", he said.

The responsible stressed the difficulty that people have in reporting cases of this kind, because it is most often a crime that happens "intramuros, within the family.

"The second aspect is that many times it's people close to the victim, family members, neighbors, which in itself inhibits people from reporting and consequently the cases increase, the problem gets worse and we want this campaign to wake up so that the reports increase and the perpetrators are held responsible at a criminal level", he stressed.

The campaign started in the social networks, with the dissemination of information, but the action is complemented by traditional media, churches, artists, opinion-makers, "so that the message is more facilitated.

"We will also enter the neighborhoods, in the most affected communities, for the awakening of people's consciousness," said Hermenegildo de Brito, pointing out that crime happens throughout the province, but more frequently in suburban areas, namely in the municipality of Viana, Cacuaco, Cazenga, Belas.

"Especially in those neighborhoods that emerged very quickly and in those unstructured families, in which the mother leaves early in the morning and who takes care of the children is also a child and the neighbor or an uncle notices, prevaricating," he added.
