António Costa announces that Portugal has approved new credit lines for Angola

The Portuguese Prime Minister announced that the Ministry of Finance has unblocked two lines of credit for two major works in Angola, the Lubango ring road and the Muxima infrastructure.

"In addition to the credit lines made available at Soyo, two others have now been approved by the Ministry of Finance, one for the Lubango circular and the other for the Muxima infrastructure", announced António Costa, after a bilateral meeting with President João Lourenço.

The two leaders were present during the afternoon at the Summit for the Financing of African Economies, organized by Emmanuel Macron, in Paris, and met bilaterally at the end of the meeting.

"All the credit issues that were pending with Angola are currently out of date and in conditions for investments to be able to move forward," guaranteed António Costa, without advancing the amounts made available on these credit lines.

The meeting with João Lourenço was short, with the Angolan President preferring not to speak to journalists at the end of the meeting.

As for the conclusions of the summit, the Portuguese Prime Minister considered that "it exceeded the expectations that everyone had".

"This conference focused on the search for concrete solutions, bringing together African and European leaders [...]. We were all working together to bring together the different funding mechanisms that each has to give a strong impetus to African development", declared António Costa, revealing that he would not be surprised if the support amounted to 100 billion euros.

In addition to the bilateral meeting with João Lourenço, António Costa met in Paris with Presidents Filipe Nyusi, from Mozambique, Abdul Fatah Khalil Al-Sisi, from Egypt, Kaïs Saïed, from Tunisia, and Paul Kagame, from Rwanda.
