João Lourenço special envoy to inform you about Chad's political situation

The President of the Republic, João Lourenço, was informed about the current political situation in Chad, by the Chief of Staff, Abdel Déby Itno, received in audience this Thursday at the Presidential Palace, in Luanda.


Abdel Déby Itno carried a message from the President of the Chad's Transitional Military Council, Mahamat Idriss Déby, addressed to the head of state.

The special envoy said that Chad is going through a crisis with the death of its President Idriss Déby, but the Transitional Military Council is focused on promoting dialogue, in order to have a peaceful transition and elections to return to normality .

Abdel Déby Itno said that Chad intends to meet with different heads of state in the region to inform them about the events that took place in Chad and about the ongoing transition process, in order to obtain advice from partner countries like Angola.

"As you know, President Idriss Déby and President João Lourenço have had good relationships on a personal level, but they have also transcended the level of countries. These are the relationships that we want to capitalize on," he said.

After the Chad President's death, the Transitional Military Council came to rule the country.
