Covid-19: Angola with 258 new infections and eight deaths in 24 hours

Angola registered eight more deaths and 258 more cases of covid-19, in the last 24 hours, accumulating a total of 31,049 positive cases and 685 deaths, announced this Tuesday the Ministry of Health.

According to the data of the epidemiological bulletin of the National Directorate of Public Health regarding the situation of the disease in the last 24 hours, Luanda registered 219 cases of the total number of infections, followed by Huambo (22), Cunene (8), Huíla (5), Benguela (3) and Bengo (1), with ages between 2 months and 84 years, being 131 males and 127 females.

The reported deaths are Angolan citizens, between 30 and 85 years old, of which three in Luanda, the same number in Huíla, one in Cuando Cubango and one in Uíge.

According to the authorities, 18 people recovered from the disease, in Luanda, between 25 and 85 years, totaling 26.013 recoveries.

With the data available Tuesday, the country has active 4351 cases, of which 19 in critical condition, 48 severe, 169 moderate, 56 mild and 4059 asymptomatic, with 292 patients hospitalized, 46 people in institutional quarantine and 2179 contacts under epidemiological surveillance.

As for the laboratories, 3902 samples were processed by RT-PCR in the period under review, pointing to a cumulative of 545,969 processed samples with a positivity rate of 5.7 percent.

At the entry and exit points of the capital, 289 people were tested on the antigen test basis.

The covid-19 pandemic has caused at least 3,391,849 deaths worldwide, resulting from more than 163.5 million cases of infection, according to an assessment by the French AFP agency.

The disease is transmitted by a new coronavirus detected in late 2019 in Wuhan, a city in central China.
