Covid-19: Angola registers four more deaths, 290 cases and 442 recoveries

Angola has recorded 290 more covid-19 infections, and four deaths, while 442 people have recovered from the disease, in the last 24 hours, according to the epidemiological bulletin of the National Directorate of Public Health.

The new cases were reported in Luanda (235), Huíla (16), Namibe (8), Bié (6), Kwanza Sul (6), Uíge (6), Huambo (5), Cabinda (2), Cunene (2), Zaire (2), Bengo (1) and Benguela (1), with ages between 14 days and 92 years, 158 males and 132 females.

In this period four deaths were reported, of Angolan citizens between 60 and 73 years, three in Luanda and one in Huambo, and 442 people, between 1 and 89 years, recovered from the disease.

The laboratories processed 2928 samples by RT-PCR, for a total of 533,065 tests with a positivity rate of 5.6 percent.

Angola has a total of 29,695 cases, of which 649 have died, 25,629 have recovered from the disease, and 3417 are active (including 17 critical and 151 severe).

265 people are also hospitalized and 53 are in institutional care.

The covid-19 pandemic has caused at least 3,333,603 deaths worldwide, resulting from more than 160.3 million cases of infection, according to an assessment by the French agency AFP.

The disease is transmitted by a new coronavirus detected in late 2019 in Wuhan, a city in central China.
