Covid-19: Angola with 245 more cases and again equals February's record of nine deaths

Angola registered in the last 24 hours 245 new cases of covid-19 and nine more deaths, equaling the highest number of deaths recorded this year on February 10, according to the epidemiological bulletin of the National Directorate of Public Health.

The infections occurred in Luanda (231), Huila (4), Benguela (3), Cunene (3), Huambo (2), Cuanza Norte (1) and Malanje (1), with ages between 2 and 78 years, being 135 males and 110 females.

Nine deaths were reported in this period, all Angolans, being six in Luanda (between 54 and 88 years), two in Huíla (43 and 73 years) and one in Malanje (47 years).

302 people were also recovered from the disease, of which 287 were in Luanda.

The laboratories processed 2159 samples by RT-PCR and the cumulative points to 512,340 tests in total, with a positivity rate of 5.4 percent.

Angola totals 27,529 cases, of which 618 deaths, 24,492 recovered from the disease, 2419 active (of which 11 in critical condition and 23 severe), in addition to 200 hospitalized patients and 105 people in institutional quarantine.

The covid-19 pandemic has caused at least 3,230,058 deaths worldwide, resulting from more than 154.2 million cases of infection, according to an assessment by the French agency AFP.

The disease is transmitted by a new coronavirus detected in late 2019 in Wuhan, a city in central China.
