European Union supports project “Angola without Plastic” with 19 thousand euros

The European Union (EU) delegation in Angola announced that it will finance with 19 thousand euros a project to raise awareness about the responsible use of disposable plastic bags.

The project, promoted by EcoAngola, a civil society organization for education and environmental conservation in Angola, has an implementation deadline of nine months (January to September 2021) and its main focus is the young population of the capital.

"This project has as specific objectives to create a dialogue between the parties involved in the trade and consumption of disposable plastics (authorities, the private sector, non-governmental organizations and the academic sector) and to share good practices of responsible and conscious consumption", the statement said. EU delegation.

The Angola without Plastic project is presented next Wednesday by EcoAngola's executive director, Erica Tavares and will be attended by the European ambassador, Jeannette Seppen, project collaborators, governmental institutions and non-governmental environmental protection organizations.

The main objective is to raise awareness among civil society, the private sector and government authorities about the impacts that plastic without appropriate treatment has on biodiversity and public health, as well as for the promotion of alternatives to disposable plastic.
