The figures reveal that of the more than 90 percent of Luandans (93.7 percent) who said they went shopping less often, almost half (47.6 percent) said they spent more money during the period of the state of emergency.

In addition, 20 percent of those surveyed justified the increase in spending by stopping buying food in large quantities and from friends, who practiced more affordable prices.

The study, cited by Expansão, also indicates that only 26 per cent of the capital's inhabitants spent less money on purchases last month. Already 7.8 percent said the amount spent in April remained the same as in previous months.

However, 98 per cent of respondents admitted that during the state of emergency prices increased.

According to Marktest Angola, 70 percent of those surveyed decreased their workload, 98 percent stopped going to church, 75 percent walked less by car and 95 percent said they spent more time at home.

The figures also reveal that 29 percent of the people in Luanda started walking more because in their daily lives they only travelled small distances.

About 92 per cent also revealed that they clean their house more often and wash their hands more often, and 63 per cent reported that they went barefoot at the entrance to their house.

The biggest fear of Angolans is being contaminated by the new coronavirus (43 percent).
