It seems that the Executive is preparing to lift the state of emergency, putting the country in a situation of public calamity, writes the Jornal de Angola.
The state of public calamity will bring some freedom to the country, which is operating at half gas, however, experts in statements to the Opaís newspaper say there is a need for caution as the number of cases in Angola has been increasing in recent days.
This change became possible last week after the parliament approved the changes to the Civil Protection Law. According to the new document, the President of the Republic will now be able to decide and adopt measures on the functioning of the state administration bodies, on the exercise of commercial and industrial activities, access to goods and services, among others.
João Loureço can also decide how markets, crèches, nurseries, schools, homes, transport, health services, cultural activities, among other situations that prove to be possible contagion sites, will operate.
However, the law states that all measures adopted by the Executive in a situation of public calamity must not, at any time, compromise the rights and freedoms of citizens.
