In a letter, to which Lusa agency had access, that Non-Governmental Organization argued that the acronym chosen by the future political force, called Action for the Strengthening of Democracy in Angola (ARDA), in the phonetic and graphic plane (inversion of the letter layout) can "Induce the voter to confusion or mistake", contrary to the Law on Political Parties, in paragraph 3 of article 19.
"The law is clear in establishing that the denomination of political parties cannot adopt or evoke names of people, church, religion, tribe, race, region, confession or religious doctrine and the use of expressions is not allowed", it refers in letter, citing that article.
The civil society organization further evoked that taking into account its corporate purpose, its target population, “unquestionably the use of this acronym will create confusion for the electorate and beyond”.
"Accordingly, we are, as a precaution, to alert the Constitutional Court of this fact, requesting that the necessary legal measures be taken", the letter reads.
ADRA is an NGO created nearly three decades ago, which emerged to support rural communities, having supported in these years about 140 thousand families, from 808 villages, from 25 municipalities in the country, in seven provinces.
