Until now, the military class was exempt from paying this tax, however, if the National Assembly approves the law, this will change.
According to the Secretary of State for Finance, Osvaldo João, this change aims to bring some tax equality, making everyone pay equally, writes Angop.
Another new feature is that citizens with salaries up to 70 thousand kwanzas are now exempt from paying IRT. Previously only citizens with salaries up to 35 thousand kwanzas were exempt, however, Osvaldo João explained that due to the crisis and the economic changes that the country has suffered, the income of the families has decreased, thus placing the citizens who receive up to 70 thousand kwanzas at a level of vulnerability.
This measure aims to relieve financially the families with lower incomes, since by paying less they will have more room for manoeuvre to buy essential goods.
The government has presented three proposals with changes to the country's tax system. Among them is the reduction of the Industrial Tax from 30 to 25 percent.
The other law aims to amend the General Tax Code Law, with an increase in the tax procedure deadlines for taxpayers and the General Tax Administration.
