Angolan police arrested 13 Vietnamese for disregarding the state of emergency

The authorities arrested 13 Vietnamese citizens in Cuando Cubango province while the group was participating in a party, disrespecting the state of emergency decreed due to the new coronavirus, the Criminal Investigation Service (SIC) informed this Thursday.

According to the local SIC spokesman, Anderson Domingos, the group was arrested in Missombo municipality, 18 kilometres from Menongue city, capital of Cuando Cubango province, thanks to surveillance activities carried out by the corporation in the constituency.

Anderson Domingos, cited by Angop, said that the detainees, who are in Angola in service, in various sectors, will be presented to the Public Prosecutor.

Angola has so far registered 36 positive cases of covid-19, of which two have resulted in deaths and 11 have recovered.

The number of deaths due to covid-19 in Africa this Thursday exceeded two thousand (2012), with more than 51 thousand cases of the disease registered in 53 countries, according to the most recent statistics on the pandemic in the continent.
