"TAAG Linhas Aéreas de Angola and the South American airline Avianca Airlines have entered into a strategic partnership in the air cargo transportation segment, a SPA (Special Prorate Agreement) agreement that will significantly expand the scope of services of both entities, through the opening of new markets, business development, and the sharing of the cargo destination network between the partners, with preferential conditions and rates", the flag carrier informed, in a statement sent to VerAngola.
This agreement thus opens horizons, as it will not only allow for the expansion of access to routes in the South American market, but will also open doors in the African market.
"The agreement will allow TAAG to expand its presence in strategic South American markets, providing customers and industrial groups from Europe and Africa with access to routes beyond São Paulo - Brazil, namely Bogotá in Colombia, Santiago in Chile, Lima in Peru, Montevideo in Uruguay, or Quito in Ecuador", reads the statement.
"At the same time, Avianca gains privileged access to the African market, namely to the cities of Luanda (Angola), Johannesburg and Cape Town (South Africa), Lagos (Nigeria), Libreville (Gabon), Kinshasa (Democratic Republic of Congo), Brazzaville (Republic of Congo) and Nairobi (Kenya), through TAAG's cargo network", the note adds.
The partnership between the two companies was formalized in São Paulo (Brazil) and "ratified by senior representatives of both companies, namely the Chairman of the Executive Committee of TAAG, Nelson Rodrigues de Oliveira and Eduardo Arenas, Transformation and Alliances Manager at Avianca Cargo".
"The agreement covers various types of cargo, with special emphasis on perishable products from South America and machinery from the European Union", TAAG also informs.
On the occasion, Nelson Rodrigues de Oliveira considered that the agreement "represents a fundamental step" in the company's international expansion strategy.
"This SPA agreement represents a fundamental step in our international expansion strategy. São Paulo consolidates itself as a strategic hub for TAAG's entry into South America, opening new markets and destinations for our sales force. This is a beneficial partnership for both airlines and we believe it will have a positive impact on our results in 2025", highlighted the Chairman of the Executive Committee of TAAG.
The head of Avianca considered that the agreement reinforces the company's commitment to "serving with excellence".
"We are very pleased to enhance our value proposition by expanding our services, providing new destinations for our customer base. This agreement reinforces our commitment to serving with excellence and positions us as a trusted partner for stakeholders in the region", stated Eduardo Arenas.
In the statement, TAAG also states that this "historic codeshare agreement represents a significant step in the integration of transcontinental air cargo transportation networks, uniting Africa and the Americas, strengthening logistics chains and facilitating international imports and exports".
