Thus, these results lead the agricultural enterprise to move forward with large-scale cocoa cultivation, in addition to coffee.
The manager, speaking to Angop, highlighted that cocoa currently has an excellent price on the international market, with favorable conditions for its cultivation in the province.
Although he did not reveal the amount of investments made so far, Ivan Chaves indicated that, in the long term, this could reach approximately 20 billion kwanzas.
José Marcolino, an agricultural technician responsible for cocoa production on the farm, explained that this work is being carried out with hybrid seeds, adding that the enterprise intends, in the coming years, to expand the area dedicated to the cultivation of this fruit, from nine to 30 hectares, with the expectation of harvesting three tons per hectare.
The agricultural project is located in the municipality of Lucala (Cuanza Norte) and currently has coffee (35 hectares), sugar cane (26 hectares) and palm (10 hectares) plantations.
According to Angop, the farm has 105 permanent employees, in addition to another 100 temporarily hired, mainly during harvest seasons.
