According to the President of the Republic, João Lourenço, quoted in a statement to which VerAngola had access, the country's participation in the Japanese event symbolizes the Government's commitment "to contribute to a more balanced and healthy global society".

"Angola's presence at Expo 2025 Osaka symbolizes our commitment to contribute to a more balanced and healthy global society. With the theme 'Saving Lives', we intend to place health education at the center of collective action, promoting conscious and resilient citizenship," said the head of state.

Furthermore, presence at this event also provides Angola with an opportunity to showcase its economic and cultural potential.

"This participation also represents a unique opportunity for Angola to demonstrate its economic and cultural potential to the world, in a context of attracting investment, strengthening multilateral partnerships and valuing its vast human heritage. The expo is, in this sense, a platform where the country asserts itself as an agent of change, looking to the future with responsibility and ambition," reads the statement.

Present at the event are the Angolan ambassador to Japan, Teolinda Coelho, the Angolan commissioner general, Albina Assis Africano and the deputy commissioner Neuza Dias dos Santos.

The country is participating in the expo with a pavilion that is "still partially open, with a strong identity and humanist vocation, guided by the sub-theme 'Save Lives' and the slogan 'Educate for Health'".

"The general coordination of national participation is in the hands of Albina Assis Africano, general curator of the Angolan pavilion, whose long experience and vision have given Angola a prominent position within the BIE (Bureau International des Expositions)", the note states, adding that the Angolan pavilion, "with its symbolic architecture and immersive content, treated visitors to the expo with traditional performances to the vibrant sound of Angolan batuque and traditional songs performed by a single percussionist, attracting numerous visitors".

The country's participation, the document says, "promises to be a highlight of the Expo 2025 Osaka Kansai Japan site, inviting visitors to discover a country of contrasts and riches, where the past and the future dialogue in harmony."

"There will be room for cultural exhibitions, interactive experiences, thematic forums, shows and moments of sharing that reflect the diversity and vitality of Angolan society," he adds.

The expo opened on Sunday and was attended by 98,000 visitors. This opening came after the official inauguration ceremony took place on Saturday, which was "attended by Prime Minister Shigeru Ishiba, Emperor Naruhito, Empress Masako, Fumihito and 1300 representatives of the participating nations."

"Under the global theme 'Designing the Future Society for Our Lives', the exhibition brings together hundreds of countries and international organizations that, over the course of six months, will present innovative proposals around healthy living, social cohesion, sustainability and humanized technology," the note also says.
