A meeting with Robert Dussey, Minister of Foreign Affairs, Regional Integration and Togolese Abroad is also part of the program of Téte António's visit to Togo, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs said in a statement to which VerAngola had access.
"According to the visit programme, the Angolan diplomatic minister will hold a meeting in the morning with Robert Dussey, Minister of Foreign Affairs, Regional Integration and Togolese Abroad, and will then travel to the Presidential Palace where he will be received by Faure Essozimna Gnassingbé, President of the Republic of Togo", the note reads.
The minister's visit will last 24 hours. "Téte António, Minister of Foreign Affairs, has been in Lomé since dawn this Thursday, April 24, for a 24-hour visit to the Republic of Togo, as part of strengthening friendship and cooperation with the Republic of Angola," the statement said.
Upon arrival at Gnassingbé Eyadéma International Airport, Téte António was received by Edjaide Eyana, Head of State Protocol of the Republic of Togo, and by Minister-Counselor Joel Nkumbu, "representing João Baptista Quiosa, Angolan Ambassador to Ghana, with non-resident status in Lomé".
The ministry recalls that, last week, the Togolese president was in Angola.
"President Faure Gnassingbé was in Luanda on April 15, as a mediator, appointed by the African Union, for the conflict in the East of the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC)," the note says.
"Diplomatic relations between Angola and Togo have been historic and guided by a good bilateral relationship", points out the ministry, which adds that "both countries maintain friendly cooperation, based on mutual respect, and have engaged in various areas of cooperation, such as politics, diplomacy, economy and culture".
