Cholera causes three more deaths and there are 202 new cases in 24 hours

Health authorities recorded three more deaths and 202 new cases of cholera in the country in 24 hours, totaling 478 deaths and 12,802 infections as of Tuesday since January this year, when this outbreak was declared.

Data for Tuesday and released this Wednesday by the Ministry of Health indicate that, in the last 24 hours, the province of Cuanza Norte had registered two deaths and Malanje one death.

In the same period, 86 new infections were reported in Benguela, followed by Luanda (44), Cuanza Norte (31), Malanje (17), Bengo (seven), Namibe (six), Huíla (four), Cuanza Sul (four) and Icolo and Bengo (three).

The outbreak declared by authorities on January 7 this year affects 17 provinces in the country, with only three free of the disease, with a death toll of 478, with a fatality rate of 3.7 percent, and 12,802 cases.

In the last 24 hours, the ministry indicates in the data relating to Tuesday, 171 people were discharged, with 1287 others currently hospitalized with cholera.
