Thus, quoted by Angop, the minister pointed out the urgency of advancing with electrification, to achieve growth and development objectives, always counting on the collaboration of the private sector, through the support of the World Bank.
Vera Daves also mentioned that the best strategies are being discussed, as well as the essential political and regulatory reforms to attract the private sector to finance the 'Mission 300' project, which is an initiative of the World Bank and for which the country will submit its plan by September.
In another meeting, within the scope of the WB and IMF Spring meetings, the minister presented the strategic vision for the Lobito Corridor.
According to a statement from the Ministry of Finance, to which VerAngola had access, at a round table, "promoted by the Atlantic Council, dedicated to the Lobito Corridor as a strategic vector for the economic development of Angola and the region", Vera Daves highlighted the role of the Lobito Corridor.
At the meeting – which was also attended by Ricardo D'Abreu, Minister of Transport – the Minister of Finance "highlighted the role of the Lobito Corridor as a catalyst for foreign investment, underlining the importance of creating tax incentives, sustainable financing mechanisms and the necessary macroeconomic stability as determining factors for attracting private capital and boosting intra-African trade".
"The creation of an attractive fiscal framework, combined with innovative financing solutions, will allow the Lobito Corridor to be consolidated as a reference economic axis, enhancing Angola's role as a logistics and commercial platform on the African continent", highlighted Vera Daves, quoted in the note.
The Minister of Transport said that "Angola's true objective with this project is to transform the Lobito Corridor into an authentic economic development corridor, with the essential support of the national and foreign private sector".
"Our ambition is to consolidate an environment conducive to investment, so that the private sector can play an active role in creating value and jobs, and in sustained growth," he added.
