The signing ceremony took place this Monday, with Alcides Andrade, executive director of ANPG, Cristopher Ezea, president of the Walcot group, and Katila Tati, general director of Afrenta, having signed the contracts.
According to Angop, the signing of these contracts, which took place within the scope of the bidding process for new oil blocks promoted by the Government in 2023, means that block CON 3 will now be operated by Walcot, while the companies Sonangol and Afrenta will operate block KON 15.
On the occasion, Alcides Andrade considered that this gesture gives the "green light" for the consortia to carry out activities in the mentioned blocks, having added that this action also aims to face the decline in production in the country, aligning itself with the Executive's medium-term strategy.
"These are new concessions that are actually developed and bring new production in the medium term, so that we can continue to guarantee the sustainability of the country's oil production," he said.
He also took the opportunity to recall that last year, Angola produced more than 34,000 barrels of oil than expected, reaching an average production of more than 1,100,000 barrels per day, writes Angop.
