"We also highlight that Angola will have the honor of hosting the MMA World Championship in 2026, for the first time in the country's history", says FAMMA, in a statement to which VerAngola had access.
According to the federation, this event will not only boost "the development of the sport" in the country, but will also project "the country internationally in the mixed martial arts scene".
It should be noted that, in order to encourage the practice of this sport, the Government of the Province of Luanda (GPL) handed over, this Tuesday, two rings (called octagons in MMA) to FAMMA.
"To respond to one of the concerns of the Angolan Federation of Mixed Martial Arts, the provincial governor of Luanda, Manuel Gomes da Conceição Homem, delivered two octagons to encourage the practice of one of the most awarded martial arts in the country", says the GPL, in a statement to which VerAngola had access.
This delivery, also marked with the 'Luanda Precisa de Ti' MMA Tournament, was attended by the Minister of Youth and Sports, Rui Falcão, vice-governors, the municipal administrator of Luanda, among other guests.
"It should be noted that this is the first time that the Angolan Federation of Mixed Martial Arts has received this important competition instrument, which will also reinforce the preparation of athletes for our country's participation in the World Championship of Mixed Martial Arts scheduled for 2026, in which Angola will be the host", the GPL note also states.
In national terms, the National MMA Championship will start this Thursday (April 18th). The national competition will take place until April 21st, with the participation of more than 300 athletes from nine provinces.
