In this edition, which has a total of seven categories, for the 'Financial Sector Company of the Year Award' are nominated BAI, BFA and Standard Bank.

According to a statement sent to VerAngola, the companies Casais, Omatapalo and Sonangol are nominated in the 'Company of the Year in the Non-Financial Sector' category.

In the race for the 'Entrepreneurship Award' are ASSC, Narisrek and Octosea Pescaria Mormolo, while for the 'Social Responsibility Award' Azule Energy, Carrinho, Catoca, Omatapalo and Sonangol are competing.

David Maciel, Hélder Araújo and Luís Lélis are nominated for the 'Manager of the Year Award', while BAI, BNA and EMIS compete for the 'Digital/Technological Development Program Award'.

In the seventh and final category, the 'Human Capital Development Program Award', the nominees are BAI, Casais and Standard Bank.

According to the statement, the nominees in each of the categories that make up the Sirius Awards were chosen "by an independent and jury-free body", chaired by the First Lady of the Republic, Ana Dias Lourenço, and which is also composed of José Octávio Van-Dúnem, Noelma Viegas d'Abreu, Francisco Queiroz, Paula Simons, Armando Manuel and Aia-Eza da Silva.

According to the Sirius Awards jury president, Ana Dias Lourenço, "Angola and its business fabric have been excellent in their ability to prosper, even in less favorable scenarios. It is therefore urgent to continue investing in education, innovation and new sectors of activity. The Sirius Awards are a clear demonstration of the work that has been done by national companies. Regardless of their province, businesspeople and entrepreneurs are making efforts, producing more and better and modernizing processes in favor of the success of Angola. It is, in this context, that this initiative gains special relevance by recognizing the courage and resilience of organizations and personalities".

José António Barata, president of Deloitte Angola, highlighted that "a profound transformation of the Angolan economy is underway, largely due to the continued effort to diversify economic activity through structural reforms that have made it possible to stimulate key sectors for Angola's development, such as agriculture, industry or the creation of fundamental infrastructures. It is, therefore, important to continue to distinguish the best business examples, a mission that the Sirius Awards have been fulfilling over the last decade".

The current edition of these awards "had more than 50 applications validated by the jury according to the criteria defined in the regulations, with only one being excluded that did not meet the aforementioned criteria", says the statement, which adds that the "social responsibility category was the one that more support was obtained during the application period with around 18 applications registered, which resulted in five appointments given the importance of this area for the country".

Thus, the note adds, the list of nominees "is made up of the organizations and personalities that the jury considered to have contributed most to the development of the Angolan market in 2023".

The winners will be announced at the awards ceremony, which is scheduled for the 11th of this month, in the capital.
