Samantha Power and Richard Verma's visit between April 23 and 25 will focus on USAID's investments in malaria prevention and the Lobito Corridor project, said the same source.

The objective is to "reaffirm the US Government's commitment to supporting (...) security and good governance in Angola", can be read in the USAID note, which states that "during the visit, the administrator will meet will meet with government leaders, members of civil society and company executives in Luanda".

Between April 23 and 25, "USAID's investments in malaria prevention will be highlighted in a visit to the National Institute of Health Research of Angola, a key partner in the Presidential Initiative against Malaria".

And the administrator "will also travel to the province of Benguela, in Angola, to promote US support for the Lobito Corridor, a priority project of the Partnership for Global Infrastructure and Investment that will connect the Democratic Republic of Congo and Zambia to regional and global commercial markets through the Port of Lobito".

In the statement, USAID said that Samantha Power will take the opportunity to meet with Angolan farmers and government partners.

The visit of these two North American officials comes three months after the presence of the head of US diplomacy in Luanda, during which Anthony Blinken stated that the relationship between the two countries is now "stronger and more consequential" than "in any other height of the last 30 years".

Among the topics discussed with the President of the Republic, João Lourenço, were issues such as climate change and food security, as well as, precisely, the Lobito Corridor project.

Blinken classified Angola as "a reliable partner", with whom solutions for peace on the continent and investments in areas such as health and renewable energy were also discussed.
