João Lourenço and Luís Montenegro discussed the prospects of bilateral cooperation on the phone

The President of the Republic spoke this Tuesday on the phone with the Portuguese Prime Minister, Luís Montenegro, and the “prospects for bilateral cooperation” were at the center of the conversation, reads a note released by the government.

In March, João Lourenço had already congratulated Luís Montenegro, in office since April 2nd, wishing him “success” and “good performance” in his new roles.

The head of state, in a short message on the occasion, congratulated Montenegro on being nominated for the position following the victory obtained by the Democratic Alliance (AD) in the elections on March 10, and highlighting the closeness between Portugal and Angola.

"Portugal and Angola, due to their history, cultural proximity and consanguinity between their people, [are] compelled to always go hand in hand and work in search of the best solutions in favor of the social progress and economic development of our countries", read the message from João Lourenço.
