According to Angop, 500 million dollars have already been invested by the United Kingdom to contribute to the development of infrastructure to support the Lobito Corridor.

"We believe that the Lobito Corridor will bring prosperity to thousands of people and stability to the continent" said Richard Benyon.

Regarding the meeting with Luís Nunes, Richard Benyon considered it useful. "We had a good meeting with the governor and he impressed me with his vision of the Lobito Corridor, especially Porto", he pointed out, in statements to the press at the end of the meeting, cited by Angop.

On the occasion, the minister also stated that the British government is willing to facilitate contact with experienced companies in his country, within the scope of "good relations" between both countries.

According to a note from the Provincial Government of Benguela, to which VerAngola had access, the British minister said that the "visit aims to support one of the most important bilateral relations between the two countries and visit socio-economic investments in the province".

At the meeting, the governor of Benguela informed the British minister of "the strong potential" of Benguela in several areas, "which makes this part of the national territory a good place to invest".

Furthermore, the statement adds, the provincial governor also expressed the government's "availability to support the British delegation" during its visit to the province.

Richard Benyon will, during two days of work in Benguela, visit the Hallo Trust shipyard, as well as having "a business dinner with local businesspeople, a tour of the Lobito train station and an excursion to the Lobito Commercial Port".
