This information was released this Wednesday on the official website of the Presidency of the Portuguese Republic on the Internet through a note with the title "Heads of State PALOP and Timor-Leste participate in the celebrations of the 50th anniversary of the 25th of April".

"The heads of state of Angola, Cape Verde, Guinea-Bissau, Mozambique, São Tomé and Príncipe and Timor-Leste, countries whose independence occurred after the 25th of April 1974 or were recognized by Portugal in that context, confirmed their presence at a evocative session, which will take place on April 25th, at the Centro Cultural de Belém, in Lisbon", reads the note, which is just one paragraph long.

This note comes after the Lusa agency questioned the Presidency of the Republic about which foreign representatives were invited and which confirmed their presence at the celebrations of the 50th anniversary of April 25, 1974.

In June last year, the then Prime Minister, António Costa, said, in Luanda, that the President of the Republic, Marcelo Rebelo de Sousa, would send invitations to the heads of State of Portuguese-speaking African countries to be present at the celebration of the 50 years of April 25th.

In a joint press conference with President João Lourenço, António Costa maintained that the April revolution was a step that also represented the liberation of Angola and the other former colonies that Portugal still maintained at that time.

"I hope that everyone will accept the invitation formally formulated by the President of the Republic. Portugal and the official Portuguese-speaking countries have a common History, which is also marked by a common struggle against dictatorship and colonialism. We were fortunate to have a twin liberation process", said the former Portuguese prime minister.

Last year, the President of Brazil, Lula da Silva, also a former Portuguese colony, the first to become independent from Portugal, in 1822, joined the April 25th celebrations.
