Grupo IMEX was the big winner of the 5th edition of Expo-indústria which ended after receiving 9500 visitors

The fifth edition of Expo-Indústria ended last Saturday, with the Grupo IMEX emerging as the big winner of the event, which took place between March 29 and April 1 in the Special Economic Zone (ZEE) Luanda-Bengo.

The penultimate day of the event was marked by the awarding of prizes to exhibitors. The Grupo IMEX won the prize for 'Best Participation Expo-Indústria 2023', in a ceremony where the organization also distinguished Fabrimetal and Fazenda 27, in the categories of 'Best Participation of the Production Goods Industry' and 'Goods and Consumption', respectively.

According to Angop, the list of winners also includes Beledear (category of 'Extractive Industry'), ICC (category of 'Best Transformation Company') while the category of 'Food Industry' was snatched by Grupo Carrinho and the categories of 'Civil Construction', 'Bank, Insurance and Financial Institutions' and 'Best Provincial Participation' were won by Karam, Grupo Salam and Huambo, respectively.

Expo-Indústria received at least 9500 visitors, according to the commercial administrator of Grupo Eventos Arena, Manuel Novais, who clarified that the numbers refer to invitations delivered and tickets sold.

Cited by Angop, the official also made it known that during the event 650 direct and indirect jobs were generated, also taking the opportunity to highlight that more than 238 companies participated in the event.

"It was an important event, as people came with the objective of looking for partners and meeting needs. The fairs also create the parallel economy, which is the number of temporary jobs", he said, quoted by Angop.

The participants of this edition classified the presence as positive. This was the case of Mário Simão, representative of the detergent company Nice South Atlantico, Lda, who considered, in statements to Angop, the participation as "super positive", taking into account the contact between exhibitors and visitors.

"The interaction is being good, being the second participation, we are having many contacts with customers", he said, quoted by Angop.

The same view was shared by the deputy commercial director of SLN – FCCB, SA, Kolbe Sampaio, who gave a "super" positive assessment. "Expo-Indústria came to galvanize more and give light to other national industries", he added, quoted by Angop.

"The group brought exposure of our national industry, with everything we did, in addition to having the raffia bags, as well as the factory for packaging bags, mattresses and paints", said the director of trade marketing at the Grupo IMEX, Sara Joaquim, who, quoted by Angop, added: "It is the first time that we have won the grand prize at the expo. The balance is positive. We made an investment to increase our production".

In terms of expectations for next year, Ivan do Prado, Secretary of State for Industry, said that around 500 companies are expected to be present at the event and envisaged even greater representation of the food sector at Expo-Indústria 2024, since that the Government is focused on food self-sufficiency, writes Angop.

The President of the Republic inaugurated this year's edition of the event, where the sectors of civil construction (22 percent), commerce and distribution (12 percent), textiles (11 percent), catering (11 percent), among others.
