According to the coordinator, the mission is to rescue 100,000 children: "Our mission is to rescue all 100,000 children, this in Luanda, so that they receive all the vaccines that are part of the national calendar", she said, quoted by RNA.
Felismina Neto also took the opportunity to refer to adherence to the fourth dose of the vaccine against covid-19. "There is a lot of demand, a lot of people to be vaccinated, from adults to children, and today the team is already there to vaccinate, so the active participation of the community is fundamental for the success of this activity", she said quoted by RNA.
It should be noted that this week the African Vaccination Week kicked off. According to a statement from the Ministry of Health, to which VerAngola had access, the Secretary of State for the Hospital Area, Leonardo Europeu Inocêncio, was present on Monday (April 24), in Viana, at the launch of the said week , which takes place between the 24th and 30th of April.
"This year, under the motto 'Vaccinated Population - Healthy Population', chosen by the WHO [World Health Organization], it is assumed by Angola with the need to accelerate the increase in national vaccination coverage, recovering those who are not vaccinated or with incomplete vaccination, to reduce immuno-preventable diseases by vaccination, placing people of all ages, especially children and women of childbearing age, at the center of action with an innovative, transversal and multisectoral approach", reads the note.
On the occasion, Leonardo Europeu Inocêncio informed that the Government created the "National Plan for the Recovery of Routine Vaccination Coverage and Integration in a sustainable way of zero-dose children with greater coverage in the provinces of Luanda, Bié, Cunene, Huambo and Cuanza Sul ".
The Secretary of State, quoted in the note, also said that "vaccination against tetanus for women of childbearing age and pregnant women should be a high priority and vaccination against covid-19".
"The WHO estimates that vaccination prevents the death of about three million children per year", says the statement, which adds that "currently there are vaccines that protect against more than twenty potentially fatal diseases".
