Téte António arrives in Kinshasa with a message from João Lourenço to the President of the DRC

An Angolan delegation arrived in Kinshasa this Thursday to participate in the First Extraordinary Ministerial Session of the Specialized Technical Committee on Defence, Protection and Security (CTSDSS) of the Peace Council of the Economic Community of Central African States (COPX-ECCAS).

The multisectoral delegation, led by Téte António, Minister of Foreign Affairs, will analyze the political and security situation in Central Africa, in particular in Member States in situations of armed conflict and/or electoral processes in the year 2022.

According to a statement from MIREX, the ministers will consider and approve the Reports of the Experts of the Member States, of the Chiefs of General Staff, of the General Commanders of the Police and Gendarmerie, and of the Senior Officials of the Ministries of the Peace and Security Council of ECCAS. .

The Angolan multisectoral delegation is also made up of General Domingos André Tchikanha, Secretary of State for Veterans of the Homeland and José Bamokina Zau, Secretary of State for the Interior, in addition to other officials from the Ministries of Foreign Affairs, Defense and Veterans of the Homeland. , the Interior and those responsible for the security agencies.

Téte António delivers message from PR to Félix Tshisekedi

In DRC territory to participate in the Specialized Technical Committee for Defence, Protection and Security of Central African States, the Minister of Foreign Affairs was the bearer of a written message from João Lourenço to Félix Tshisekedi, President of the Democratic Republic of Congo.

According to a statement to which VerAngola had access, in the message, the Head of State expressed his solidarity with the people and the Democratic Congolese Government, as well as recalling the deepening of bilateral and multilateral relations, including "issues of mutual interest at the regional level and continental".

The message was delivered in the presence of Ambassador Miguel César Domingos Bembe and Miguel Costa, Ambassador of the Republic of Angola to the Democratic Republic of Congo.

Angola and the DRC held the X Session of the Great Mixed Commission, in Kinshasa, between the 27th and 29th of October 2021, during which they signed a cooperation agreement in the commercial field.

The two countries are part of the Southern African Development Community (SADC) and the International Conference on the Great Lakes Region (CIRGL), and have maintained contacts at the highest level on issues related to peace, stability and security in the region.
